Catamount members and summer camp instructors Sam Noel, of Shelburne, and Cooper Willsey, from Hinesburg, fared well at this weekends UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Bieles, Luxembourg. Sam raced to 43rd place on Saturday in the Junior Men’s Race. On Sunday, Cooper placed 22nd in the U23 Men’s Race. The course and conditions proved to be quite challenging with cold temperatures and frozen (and thawing) ground surfaces adding to tricky off-camber sections.
Catamount’s new Operations Manager Tag Carpenter has resurrected the youth ski program. We are excited as Tag has a wealth of experience running youth ski programs and will be bringing his energy and enthusiasm to Catamount. Two programs will be offered: The Super Sliders for grades 3-5 and The Catamount All Stars for grades 5-8. Both groups will meet on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings starting January 25th. For more information, to sign up or ask any questions, please email Tag.
Even though we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of more snow to really start our winter season here at Catamount, we are also gearing up another great summer camp season. Our camp program turns 24 years old this summer and we have a full schedule of camps for ages 6-16 planned. All of the camp dates are available now and online registration will be available on February 1st so please stay tuned!
Our Fat Wednesday Fat Bike Group Rides will start this week on January 4th. These led rides are intended to be both fun and social and use the network of Catamount’s groomed fat bike trails. The rides begin at 6:00pm and last about 1-1.5 hours ending with a fire in our pit and byob. Rentals are available and please bring your own light to ride with.
